There were Rules for courting women of the Water Tribes, Sokka explained, years after the final battle and a step away from outright drunkenness.

“Zuko,” he said confidentially, “When you marry one of our girls, you marry her whole family, and a mess of her family’s friends and some of their families, and the local flock of - ” (hic) “ - penguins. You ready to marry me and a few hundred penguins?”

(Zuko proceeded to drag his companion, forcibly by the shirt, from the bar before either could be further humiliated.)

“This is,” Sokka announced, halfway to the building’s exit, “no way to treat your new husband. Brother. Thingie.” (hic)
